Bhumi Pednekar (born 18 July 1989) is a Hindi cinema actress from India. She spent six years at Yash Raj Films as an assistant casting director before making her acting debut as an obese bride in the romantic comedy Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015), which won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.

Amazing Facts About Bhumi Pednekar
- Her mother is a Haryanvi and her father is a Maharashtrian, hence she comes from a multi-cultural background.
- Bhumi learned about a job opening at Yash Raj Films just a few months before she turned 18. She applied without hesitation for the position of “assistant casting director” because she was excited about the prospect of working in the film and television industries. She was ultimately chosen and worked for YRF’s senior casting director, Shanoo Sharma, during the final three years of her six-year tenure as assistant casting director.
- She had no idea that she was being tested for the role when she was asked to give a demo for “Dum Laga Ke Haisha” by Yash Raj Films; she assumed it was only to inform other actors about the role. She afterwards performed for almost 100 different roles.
- When asked, “Did Ayushmann Khurrana really catch you in the lead in Dum Laga Ke Haisha’s last scene?
- “Yes, he did,” she retorted. His body duplicate had actually been called, but he was unable to pick me up. Ayushmann was able! He has played cricket and is in good shape. ”
- Bhumi put on almost 25 kg of weight in preparation for her role in Dum Laga Ke Haisha. She later dropped about 27 kg after the film’s release.
- She has seen Deshdrohi, played by Kamaal Rashid Khan, a.k.a. KRK, about 100 times.
