- Marian Rivera Gràcia was born in Madrid, Spain, to Spanish father Francisco Javier Gràcia Alonso and Cavite-born Filipino mother Amalia Rivera. Her parents married and divorced when she was three years old, and her mother sent her to the Philippines, where she grew up. Her mother, however, had to depart to continue her professional commitments abroad, so Rivera was entrusted to her maternal grandmother, Francisca Rivera, in Maragondon, Cavite.
- After graduation, she worked at a Mandaluyong mental health facility, administering medication and performing patient assessments.
