Mallika Sherawat was born on October 24, 1976, in Rohtak, Haryana, India. She attended Miranda House, Delhi University where she received a degree in philosophy. She made her acting debut with a small role in the film Jeena Sirf Merre Liye. In 2003, she made her breakthrough in the film Khwahish. The following year, she starred in the film Murder, where she received much acclaim for her bold performance. The film went on to become the top-grossing film of 2004 and she received a Best Actress nomination at the Zee Cine Awards.
